Ce pilote Belge d’origine Italienne pouvait aussi bien conduire en endurance, en F1 ou en rallye. Son père avait émigré en Belgique pour travailler dans l’écurie de Johnny CLAES. Dès l’age de 15 ans, Lucien est trempé dans le grand bain du sport auto. Il débute comme copilote de Jacques HERZET (JAGUAR). L’année suivante, il pilote une FERRARI. Puis vint la période du MANS en 56 toujours sur FERRARI. Passionné de DS , Lucien entre en relation avec CITROEN en 59. En 60, il entame une période F1 avec d’excellents résultats à la clé. En 61, il obtient sa première victoire en DS au marathon LIEGE SOFIA LIEGE , pour, par la suite, terminer second au TOUR DE CORSE. Il est sacré champion de Belgique de rallye en 64. Il fut victime en compagnie de OGIER (jean claude) d’un accident au Marathon LONDRES SYDNEY (épreuve de 11200 kms), alors qu’ils étaient en tête, et ceci à 150 kms de l’arrivée. Le 30 mars 1969, lors d’essais au volant d’une F1 ALFA 33, le pilote sortit de la piste dans une ligne droite de Mulsanne et heurta une cabine téléphonique avant de prendre feu. Le pilote le plus polyvalent fut tué sur le coup.

This Belgian driver of Italian origin could just as easily drive in endurance, F1 or rallying. His father had emigrated to Belgium to work in Johnny Claes' stable. From the age of 15, Lucien was immersed in the deep end of motorsport. He started as co-driver of Jacques HERZET (JAGUAR). The following year, he drove a FERRARI. Then came the period of Le Mans in 56, still on a FERRARI. Passionate about DS, Lucien entered into a relationship with Citroën in 1959. In 60, he began an F1 period with excellent results. In 61, he obtained his first victory in DS at the LIEGE SOFIA LIEGE marathon, to then finish second in the TOUR DE CORSE. He was crowned Belgian rally champion in 64. He was the victim of an accident with OGIER (jean claude) at the LONDON SYDNEY Marathon (11200 kms event), while they were in the lead, and this at 150 kms from the finish. On 30 March 1969, during testing at the wheel of an F1 ALFA 33, the driver went off the track on a straight in Mulsanne and hit a telephone box before catching fire. The most versatile pilot was killed instantly.
